Sunshine Warmer Into Friday With Late Showers Weekend Cooler Onshore Flow

This was a Gomer Pyle moment this morning. Showers developed in the northwest flow. It is blow off from the showers and thunderstorms in the Midwest. We also have a lot of clouds around. That is going to hold temperatures down somewhat today. I still think we will see some sunshine break through the clouds at times but it may be a struggle. Highs today will be in the low to middle 70s. Radar shows some showers around. Most of them are scattered and on the light side.

WEATHER RADAR

Clouds will be around tonight with most lows in the low to mid 60s with 50s in some of the cooler inland spots. Thursday will be a warm day and we should have a decent amount of sunshine. We are looking for highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Hopefully no surprise sprinkles or showers show up like today.

Moving on to Friday we should have sunshine giving way to arriving clouds as a cold front approaches. Look for highs again to reach the upper 70s and lower 80s and there will be some showers Friday evening as the front goes by. However I am not expecting much in the way of rain with this cold front as it should be weak.

There are some questions regarding the weekend. This front is going to slow down and stall just offshore. How much dry air gets back in Saturday will hinge on the high to the north and whether it can force the high far enough south. The next issue is for Sunday. The front stalled close by means that we are at risk for rain. A wave is forecast to develop on the front and head northeastward along the frontal boundary.

For now we are going to go for a cloudy to partly sunny day for Saturday. If you are north of New York City you will probably get into some sun but to the south clouds are going to be stubborn. Highs Saturday will bein the upper 60s to lower 70s from north to south. Sunday looks to be cloudy and there will be a period of rain along coastal areas. It remains to be seen how far north and west the rain will be. Onshore winds both days will hold temps down so Sunday highs will be in the 60s. We will dry out Sunday night and another cool air mass builds in for a couple of days early next week.
