Sunshine Through Much of the Weekend Showers Thunderstorms Sunday Night Into Monday

It is a cool start and a cool finish to the work week. High pressure remains sandwiched in between a storm to the northeast in Atlantic Canada and a cold front moving into the Mississippi River Valley. The slow moving storm to the east means the front will take another couple of days to get here. This leaves us in a partly to mostly sunny Friday across Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. Once again high temperatures will probably only make it to the upper 50s to some lower 60s. Radars are nice and quiet and will remain so through the daytime Sunday.

Tonight will be another chilly night of lows in the 30s inland and low to mid 40s along the coast and in warmer urban locations. The weekend gets underway with mainly sunny skies for Saturday. The high to the north will move offshore and winds will turn more south southwest. That will allow temperatures to rise and afternoon highs will reach the low to middle 60s in most places.

Saturday night into Sunday morning will be about 10 degrees higher than past night. Most lows will be in the 40s inland and low to middle 50s along the coast. Sunday will be a day of some sunshine though clouds will start to move in from the west ahead of the next cold front. However rain should stay away through Sunday evening. Highs Sunday will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s.

The cold front will be out of a low that heads from the Great Lakes into Ontario Province. There may be a second low that forms on the front which will slow it down somewhat. Showers will move in Sunday night between 8pm and midnight and there might even be a few thunderstorms in the mix as the front passes. Rainfall amounts will be in the half to three quarters of an inch range in most places. Convection might drive local amounts a little higher.

The cold front and the associated wave will move to the east Monday taking most of the showers to the east but there might be some lingering clouds and some lingering scattered showers until the upper trough moves far enough east.  Monday highs will be in the low to mid 60s. While there will be some improvement Monday night into Tuesday morning, a second front will approach and there might be some scattered showers with that late Tuesday into early Wednesday. Highs Monday will be in the low to mid 60s. Tuesday highs will be in the middle to upper 60s. Drier and cooler air will arrive for the middle and latter part of next week.
