Sunshine No Rain Fantastic July 4th Weather More Changes During The Week

We have saved the best day for last on this July 4th holiday weekend. We are seeing clear skies on the satellite loops with some high clouds moving across the Great Lakes. It will be a nice day overall with sunshine and reasonable dew points creating reasonably comfortable conditions. No rain is forecast for today and we can look for high temperatures in the 80s. We also have no issues tonight for those of you heading for fireworks shows. Skies should be nice and clear. Most temperatures will bottom Tuesday morning in the mid 60s to lower 70s.

Tuesday sees the next cold front moving in from the northwest. We continue to see no changes in the short and medium range outlook. The upper air flow remains busy from Canada and that brings cold fronts through every couple of days. I don’t see anything in the weather outlook that changes that idea through at least mid month.

For the week ahead it appears we have cold fronts coming through Tuesday night and another front on Friday. So ahead of Tuesday’s front it will be warmer and more humid with some sunshine and then there is the risk for showers and thunderstorms late in the day into Tuesday night. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s. The Storm Prediction Center has a marginal risk for severe weather west of NYC which means we have a shot for isolated severe thunderstorms.

Wednesday should see clouds giving way to some sunshine. The push of dry air behind the Tuesday cold front is minimal so it will be somewhat humid both Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday highs will be in the mid to upper 80s and Thursday highs will be in the low to mid 80s with some sun.

Friday brings another cold front through and another chance for showers and thunderstorms. This front might have more punch to it when it goes by so there could be severe weather risk. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s. Behind the front we have another cooler drier air mass coming in for next week.

This shot of cooler drier air will bring dew points down into the 50s and even the 40s over the weekend and temperatures will be below average as well. We are in the peak of high temperatures over the next several weeks where average highs are in the mid to upper 80s. We will be about 3 to 5 degrees under that and more importantly the humidity will be low. The weekend looks dry and mainly sunny from what we see at this early stage.
