Summer Heat Is On Beginning Wednesday Hottest Weather This Weekend

Summer Heat Is On Beginning Wednesday Hottest Weather This Weekend

It was a nice break today with humidity levels reasonable and temperatures were close to average for mid July We are going to start to rev up the temperatures in the coming days. The first burst of heat comes on Wednesday and that is ahead of an upper trough which will likely trigger off some thunderstorms. We could see that linger around into Thursday before we hit the hottest weather of the summer (so far) starting Friday. Saturday and Sunday will be the two hottest days of this stretch with 90s everywhere and we could push up to the high end of the 90s to near 100 in spots. The last time NYC (Central Park) hit 100 was back in 2012 so it isn’t a number we see around here too often. The century mark is a tough number to crack and the amount of sun and wind direction are the drivers here. Saturday would seem to be the best chance of that happening.

SATELLITE

REGIONAL RADAR

storm free

Satellite and radars show quiet conditions this evening and for tonight. Thunderstorm activity is minimal to the south and there isn’t anything of consequence anywhere close by. Tonight will be a warm night but cool spots inland could break under 60 while most overnight lows will be in the 60s to near 70. Tuesday look for plenty of sun again. The humidity will be creeping higher as will temperatures as we make a run for the upper 80s and lower 90s.

As far as thunderstorms are concerned we should see some developing late Wednesday from the daytime heating. We also will have the next upper air trough and some the remnants of Barry moving through the Appalachians and into the Northeast. If I didn’t tell you that these were Barry remnants you would hardly know the difference. We will see some thunderstorms running around Wednesday night and again on Thursday until the trough passes east.

Wednesday’s will be into the 90s and the humidity will be high so be prepared to be very uncomfortable. Thursday clouds and high humidity plus a few thunderstorms will keep temperatures down a bit into the 80s but it will be uncomfortable nonetheless. There could be some heavy downpours in some of the thunderstorms but nothing to make them really stand out.

Summer Heat Is On Beginning Wednesday Hottest Weather This Weekend

Friday begins what could be the hottest stretch of weather of the summer (so far) with highs into the 90s with sunshine and just the chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm. The set up for the weekend is for very hot temperatures. An east west front creates a northwest wind here and with sunshine we could see highs well into the 90s. This conditions could last into Sunday and possibly into Monday before a stronger cold front approaches. There could be some scattered thunderstorms running around late Sunday and the chance for more numerous thunderstorms late on Monday depending on the timing of the next important cold front. The heat is on folks so try and stay cool especially this weekend.
