Storm free conditions into next week is what it looks like as the atmosphere continues another period of realignment. We are enjoying a rather nice Thursday with sunshine that will give way to some clouds this afternoon and tonight. Two weather systems are approaching. One from the west and another from the south.
The one from the south is going to become a major storm out in the ocean, however it looks as if the precipitation from that will stay offshore though it may come close on radars. The one from the west is evident on the satellite loop as clouds move across the Great Lakes into Eastern Canada. This marks the leading edge of colder air that will be with us for a brief period.

What we will wind up seeing with the western system is perhaps some rain or snow showers on Friday at goes by. Then as the cold air pulls out on Saturday, an approaching warm front might trigger off a few rain or snow showers when that passes. The precipitation will be light and not all of you will see anything. Much of the time from Friday through Sunday will be dry. Temperatures will be in the 30s to near 40 Friday and Saturday and in the 40s to near 50 on Sunday.
Next week we will see a major storm heading to the Great Lakes as it is their turn to see a blizzard. For us it will mean a warmup to start February and I would not be surprised to see 60 here on Wednesday for a brief period. That warmup comes with a soaking rain Tuesday night and Wednesday which will wash all the snow cover away.
Further down into the long range I have been speculating about a very active volatile pattern and overnight long range models remain in line with this idea.
