Spring Like Temperatures Near Record Highs Wednesday Thursday

Showers Into Friday Brief Cold Shot Saturday

Not much has changed in the overall outlook since yesterday. A weak weather front has moved through and all that has done is created a wind shift from yesterday. The air behind the front is no cooler than the air ahead of it which leaves us pretty much in the same place. The satellite shows mainly clear skies and nice weather covering much of the Eastern US so this leaves us in a partly to mostly sunny sky with high temperatuers this afternoon reaching into the low 50s in most places.

Low pressure is heading from the Plains to the Western Great Lakes tonight and Wednesday. The system is so far north and west that its impact here will be to turn winds from south to southwest to west southwest Wednesday. Some clouds will move in tonight but no rain is forecast and temperatures overnight will be going no where in the mid 30s to lower 40s.

Wednesday probably starts with some clouds but as winds shift to a drier westerly component, sunshine will develop and this should set us up nicely for highs in the 60s which will be at least 20 degrees above average. This could also set up for record high temperatures especially in locations that have only a limited data set.

Thursday will be another very warm day with temperatures 20 degrees above average and the likelihood that we see another round of record highs in the 60s. However there probably will be more clouds around Thursday with an increasing south to southwest wind. This is due to a warm front cold front combination approaching as another storm heads to the Great Lakes. This one is a little further east and has more moisture with it.

There will be some showers from south to north that will develop during the day Thursday. Then as the showers and the warm front push northward a cold front swings eastward and that brings more showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two late Thursday night into Friday morning. Showers will end early and then we will spend the rest of the day turning colder.

Look for decreasing clouds and increasing amounts of sun Friday with a gusty wind and temperatures that will top out early in the day in the mid 50 to near 60 and then those temperatures ease as the day wears on. Friday night into Saturday morning sees a quick shot of cold air coming in but nothing extradordinary. Skies will clear and lows will be in the 20s with teens well inland. Saturday will be a cold day with sunshine and highs should make it back into the low 40s. Sunday we see a west wind and sunshine taking highs to the 50s in many locations. This is a holiday weekend and we should have a nice Monday as well with highs in the 50s to near 60 and with sunshine for most of the day.
