Spring Doom & Gloom Limited Sunshine Rounds of Rain

Spring Doom & Gloom Limited Sunshine Rounds of Rain

Low pressure passed by to our south today and while for most areas it didn’t produce much rain (and some places saw no rain at all), it did produce a lot of clouds. Combine that with a wind off the ocean and you had the recipe for a gloomy day with lots of clouds and temperatures that stayed in the 40s all day long. We should start to see improving weather conditions tonight as skies attempt to partially clear.

Rain on the radar is now mostly offshore and moving away to the east. We should the rain clear off the local radars this evening and then they will go silent for the rest of the night and during the day Thursday.

Temperatures tonight should bottom out in the 30s in most places. Then for Thursday we manage to squeeze in a decent day though there will be some clouds around. There is a weak front to the north that will push through but we should still see highs reach up into the 50s.

The pattern as we have been describing is evolving into a blocky pattern where we see weather systems moving along from west to east on a regular basis as colder air spreads across Southern Canada and builds southward from New England. The next system will be pushing through Friday morning with some showers.

This low is weak and the rain will likely be on the light side. Other than the rain we will see lots of clouds around. Highs will be in the 40s though some areas in Southern New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania will reach into the 50s.

The improvement behind this system Friday night will be short lived because another lows heads to the Great Lakes with the frontal boundary to the south inching northward. Rain returns for Saturday. Temperatures Saturday are going to depend on the warm front so it will be in the 40s until the warm front passes and then temperatures could jump higher as that front passes northward. This makes Sunday a tricky day to forecast as we will have a low to our north with an upper trough. Clouds will be around. Perhaps some breaks of sun are possible as you go south but I will leave in the chance for a passing shower.

Next week brings another chilly high to the north but we should see some sunshine Monday into Tuesday before the next low comes out of the Southern Plains and heads to the East Coast for the middle of next week.
