Some Sunshine Cold Sunday Week Ahead Outlook

A coastal stork is heading for Nova Scotia this morning and we should see partly sunny skies across the area today. There are cloud issues from a system over the Great Lakes this morning but those clouds should thin out. The weather maps still have a wintry look to them as this cold weather pattern refuses to let go. We carry on in the meantime. Some lake effect snow showers are going on in upstate NY this morning. That should begin to wind down as high pressure builds in from the north.

With the average high now around 60, we can be thankful that cold this time of year means temperatures reflexively get back into the 40s. Lows tonight under clear skies will be in the cold 20s to lower 30s. Monday’s highs will be back in the 40s with sunshine and arriving clouds.

MONDAY’S FORECAST LOW TEMPERATURES

This week ahead brings a couple of weak systems that will bring the chance for a few showers Monday night into Tuesday and again later Thursday into Friday. The question for even a 1 or 2 day warm up remains on the table and Friday through Sunday could bring an opportunity for warmer temperatures but it will hinge on whether a warm front can eventually make it far enough north. We might see a shot for widespread 60s and 70s next weekend.

Fingers crossed that this happens because at least it will come with decent weather conditions. The long range outlook shows a blocking pattern return for the week of April 16th. That means another stretch of below average temperatures is ahead of us in the longer term.
