Soaking Rain Arrives Later Today Rain Into Columbus Day 2 to 3 Inches Possible

WEATHER IN 5 SUNDAY OCTOBER 11, 2020

In what has been a mostly dry period for the lest several weeks (with one exception) we are headed for a soaking rain developing later today and lasting into Monday. The remnant low which is what is left of Hurricane Delta is pushing eastward into a big high in New England. This is creating an onshore flow from the east and it will be a matter of time before the rain gets here. The first part of Sunday is one of arriving and thickening clouds as the satellite shows. Regional radar has rain well to the  south at the moment but this will change as the day wears on. Temperatures today should be mainly in the 60s.

Weather conditions deteriorate this afternoon with rain arriving across Southern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey southward late morning early afternoon and then reaching Northern New Jersey, NYC and Long Island late in the day, with the Hudson Valley and Southern New England by early evening.

Look for rain heavy at times overnight into Monday afternoon with some on and off showers from Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning. When it is all said and done a large portion of the Mid Atlantic to Southern New England will finish up with 2 to 3 inches of rain.

Monday will be a raw day with highs just in the 50s north and east of NYC and low to mid 60s to the south. A cold front will move through Tuesday morning and weather conditions should improve afterwards. Temperatures Tuesday should be in the upper 60s to lower 70s with leftover clouds and some breaks of sunshine developing. The weather should be dry Wednesday and Thursday but we do have another cold front arriving on Friday.

The front Friday will produce some showers but behind it will come rather cool air here for next weekend thanks to a strong flow from Canada. An upper high in the west and a deep upper trough in the east this time of year opens up the colder air spigots from the north.

While the middle of this coming week we see temperatures a little above average once that front passes below normal temperatures take over up and down the east coast next weekend and the beginning of the week of October 19th. We are actually having a normal autumn this time of year with no extension of summer.
