Given all that is happening on the satellite, radar, surface observations and the fact that I have blinding heavy snow with big flakes going on outside my window I am raising snowfall estimates this morning especially for Long Island which seems to be sitting in the sweet spot at the moment

Basically I followed the short range HRRR and cut it back it bit as it has 12 inches plus bullseye. I went for an area of 8 to 12 inches inside a larger area of 6 to 8. Its snowing hard enough now that I might have at least 6 in another hour or two. Heavy wet snow compacts and the temperatures are close to or just below freezing in most places.

Radar still shows more heavy snow coming in from tropical moisture. All it is this time as a wave on a front with excellent overrunning. Yes it can snow the day after it hit the 60s! Snow should begin to taper off from west to east in the next few hours over New Jersey and continue until early afternoon for Long Island and Connecticut.
