Snow Winter Weather Advisory Continues
Everything seems to be moving on schedule with regards to the snow. Radars below remain loaded and busy with moderate snow now moving in from Pennsylvania and New Jersey so it will be over the next 3 hours that we will put down the bulk of the accumulating snow. A coating to an inch or so has fallen so far in most areas.
Two things going on that are very important. The first is that we have the wave developing on the warm front off the New Jersey coast. What that is doing is pinching the cold air and holding it in. Temperatures everywhere are in the 20s and getting that extra hour or two of snow means an extra few inches thanks to the loaded local radars.
Ultimately a gradual change to sleet freezing rain and rain will occur as we go through the morning as temperatures will first rise aloft and last at the surface. I made no changes in the snow forecast. By late morning either it changes to rain and then tapers off and ends, or it ends in colder areas as snow or freezing rain and drizzle. This afternoon will just be cloudy with some leftover showers or just some freezing drizzle inland. Slick spots and slippery conditions will continue into the afternoon before temperatures start to rise. By this time Sunday morning we will be in the 50s to near 60.
