Sunday’s storm system produced anywhere from 3/4’s of an inch to 1.25 inches of rain has now moved away to the northeast. Weather conditions are improving today with some sunshine and a bit of a breeze. Temperatures this morning are in the 30s and we are likely not to see too much movement in temperatures today. Colder dry air is coming in from the northwest. There isn’t too much going on this morning on the satellite picture to the west with nothing more than a few patchy clouds.

REGIONAL RADAR

We are done with the radars until Early Wednesday. Skies will be clear tonight with lows in the teens to  lower 20s. Tuesday looks nice and sunny but cold with high pressure going to the north of us. Most highs will be in the 30s. This sets up the next storm system for Wednesday. This will be similar to what we just went through except that the atmosphere will be colder and there could be more snow inland this time around especially across Northwest New Jersey, the Hudson Valley, Northeast Pennsylvania and in Connecticut.

NAM SNOW FORECAST FOR MIDWEEK

Snow Wednesday Inland Areas New Jersey Hudson Valley Pennsylvania Connecticut Midweek

The NAM model snow forecast for midweek has the warmest solution of all the models but it does show an areas of 3 to 4 inches of snow across a large area just north and west of the coast. Ultimately this will be another system where it either changes to rain before it ends or just goes over to some some light freezing drizzle or freezing rain before ending. For the immediate coast there could be some snow at the start but a quick change over to rain seems likely after about a coating to an inch or so. Once this weather system moves through it is back to cold and dry late this week followed by yet another system that will bring mostly rain to the area this coming weekend.
