Snow Showers Possible Late Tonight Into Monday
Snow Showers Possible Late Tonight Into Monday
We are waiting the arrival of a cold front that will begin to change the weather around here going forward. The stretch of above normal temperatures and going weeks without rain events appears to be done. With the emerging blocking pattern we see colder than average temperatures going forward through the end of the month and into the beginning of December. In the meantime we have one last day of temperatures in the 60s and sunshine.
The cold front to the west has a relatively narrow band of showers with it. To the east is a storm in the ocean with clouds backing westward to the coast of Southeastern New England. The narrow band of dry air in between will narrow further today but we will see sunshine at least into the afternoon before clouds from the west take over.
We are beginning to see rain from the west pushing into range of the regional radar view. Look for those showers to move in tonight after 6 or 7pm..reaching the coast probably after 8 or 9pm.
During the night colder air arrives. Some areas in Northwest New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania eastward to the Hudson Valley and Northwest Connecticut will see a change to snow showers. A whitening of the ground is possible as temperatures drop into the 30s to near 40. Sunday will be windy and cold with some snow showers from time to time and place to place with highs just into the 40s and then we will be in the 20s to lower 30s by Monday morning. Snowfall forecasts show accumulating snows along and north of Route 84.
Cold weather lasts into midweek as the next storm begins its approach from the Central Plains. That low will head to the Southern Great Lakes and redevelop along the Delaware coast on Thanksgiving day. That looks to produce a cold rain here but I don’t foresee and weather related travel problems through Wednesday evening.
