Snow Forecasts Updated Thursday 12292016

Weather models this afternoon beginning with the European model run and now followed up by the NAM model and RGEM model have backed away somewhat from showing a rapidly intensifying low off the Delaware coast. The low does wind up strengthening but it would be too late to cause major issues here and it will also allow warm air to move further inland cutting down snow amounts. I’m making no changes at this time to my early call snow forecast and may wind up adjusting to the low end here, not that the numbers were that high to begin with.

Weather service offices have adjusted snow amounts a little lower for the NY NJ Connecticut area but the numbers remain robust for Central and Northern New England where Winter Storm Watches are posted for a large portion of the Northeast.
