Snow Forecasts Tuesday Wednesday National Weather Service

I’m not particularly excited about the potential for snow Tuesday into Wednesday. This looks like a minor event and weather models are coming at this from slightly different directions. The GFS has the more aggressive (relatively speaking) look as it shows a weak low with an inverted trough extending northward from that surface low to Southern New England. These systems can be tricky. The upper air doesn’t support a heavy snowfall of 4 inches or more but a few inches seems possible in some areas. Inland areas will see their snows later Tuesday afternoon while along the coast Tuesday evening into the early morning hours seems the more likely time. There may be some rain mixing in along the coast when precipitation begins later in the day Tuesday. Southern & Southeastern New England stand a chance to see more snow from this system as it moves away to the northeast and strengthens a bit when it does so. The upper trough as it swings around. The upper trough would lend support to some snow in areas to the south from Northeast Virginia to Maryland, South Central Pennsylvania, Southeast Pennsylvania to the Delmarva Peninsula.
