Snow Forecasts Tuesday 01312017
I made no changes in my snow forecast map regarding the clipper that is coming for Tuesday. This looks like a 9am-5pm time frame from west to east and this time it will be areas going north that will wind up with more. The southern edge of a coating to an inch I believe will be north of Rt 195 in New Jersey. South and east of there will be little or nothing or just a passing rain shower. North and east of route 78 we are looking at the prospect of a coating to a couple of inches in some places.
GFS SNOW FORECAST TUESDAY
Weather models overnight pretty much lined up with the same idea of a coating to a couple of inches. The GFS model above seems to give a fair representation. Low pressure will drop into Northwest Pennsylvania and redevelop just south of Long Island and East of the Central New Jersey coast before moving to the east northeast.
This morning’s clipper is passing off the New Jersey coast with snow confined to extreme Southeast New Jersey. That should be ending shortly. In Minnesota to Northeast North Dakota you can see the next clipper getting ready to drop southeastward.
The rest of today we will see clouds and some sun. There will be a few passing rain or snow showers in a couple of spots but most will be very light. Then clouds will come in tonight with lows in the 30s. Snow develops during Tuesday morning and continues into the late afternoon and evening. Again this will be from Central New Jersey and Northeastern Pennsylvania northward.
The maps below are the National Weather Service forecast snow maps with the most likely snowfall prediction. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE NEW JERSEY MAP CONTAINS ONLY THIS MORNING’S SNOW FALL AND HAS NOT BEEN UPDATED FOR THE TUESDAY SNOW.
