SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY FOR LONG ISLAND AND NEW JERSEY COASTAL WATERS

The strengthening high pressure to the north and low pressure off the Carolina coast is setting up a tight pressure gradient (large change in pressure over a relatively short difference) and  this will mean gusty winds and rough seas developing tonight and lasting possibly into Wednesday.

HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD IN FROM THE MIDWEST THIS AFTERNOON AND OVER THE NORTHEAST STATES TONIGHT INTO MONDAY. SEVERAL WAVES OF LOW PRESSURE IS EXPECTED DEVELOP ALONG A STALLED FRONTAL BOUNDARY NEAR THE SOUTHEAST COAST THIS WEEK. THE FIRST SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO TRACK WELL EAST OF THE REGION MIDWEEK BEFORE A SECOND ONE LIKELY STAYS TO OUR SOUTHEAST LATE IN THE WEEK.
