Showers Today Thursday Nice Spring Day
Before Friday Weekend Gloom And Doom
Another spring day in the Northeast and that means another spring day with clouds around just about everywhere and we have some showers around on the radar. The radar itself is not overly impressive but it certainly makes for another gloom start to the day. We do have a cold front moving through later today and once that happens we will see winds shift to the north. Weather conditions could improve some later this afternoon inland in Western and Southern New Jersey and Southeast Pennsylvania where highs could reach 70 or better but once again from Northern New Jersey to NYC and east into Southern New England, clouds are likely to hang on all day with temperature sin the upper 50s to lower 60s on average.

WEATHER RADAR
We should clear out tonight as high pressure from Eastern Canada begins to strengthen and build southward into the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states. Lows by morning will be in the low to mid 50s. Thursday is by far the best day of the week. We should have plenty of sunshine from start to finish with minimal wind issues from the ocean. Winds will be more northwest and that will allow temperatures to reach into the 70s.
I don’t need to remind you that the weather does go downhill after that. Friday and Saturday will be in full blown doom and gloom mode as low pressure moves across the Ohio Valley and heads to the Mid Atlantic coast thanks to blocking to the northeast. The Friday Saturday forecast is pretty much the same. Cloudy with rain developing Friday leads to on and off rain Friday night and Saturday, probably more on than off.
There will be a sharp cut off to the rain just to the north of NYC and Northern New Jersey so we are going to lean toward the wetter and further north European model at this point. We aren’t going to get a ton of rain here but 3/4 inch to an inch an half is certainly doable with lower amounts as you go north and the higher end in Southeastern Pennsylvania to Southern New Jersey and points south. There will be some wind issues along the coast Friday night and Saturday with some gale force gusts. Once the rain develops temperatures will settle into the 50s and I wouldn’t be shocked to see thermometers drop into the upper 40s in some places. Rain should linger into early Sunday morning as the low begins to drift south. Dry air from New England will try and move southward but I think it is going to have a tough time leaving the area with lots of clouds and highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Next week looks mostly dry however the onshore flow continues most if not all week and that could mean for cloud complications at some point.
