Temperatures Moderate Into Thursday
Cold Returns For Weekend
One of the nice things about this time of year is that when cold air masses pull out, temperatures moderate very quickly back toward normal. However there are some issues this afternoon regarding how high temperatures will rise. Firstly is the fact that the departing air mass was indeed a very cold one. Even the April sun will have to work a little extra hard to boost the temperatures into the 50s.
We also have clouds on the satellite loop to the west with the next storm system and they will be moving in during this afternoon. The other issue will be the wind direction. As winds turn to the south we will have the cooler ocean air also holding temperatures back especially along coastal areas.

As the warmer air tries to arrive it is producing some rain and snow in areas to the north of us but those showers should all go to our north. The main threat for rain however comes on Thursday in the form of some showers and thunderstorms.

Temperatures however should make it up into the 60s in most places before the front passes through.

With regards to rainfall on Thursday amounts are going to depend on thunderstorm activity and who gets them. However an inch or more of rain in some areas is not out of the question. The main push of thunderstorms should come through from mid morning through early afternoon as the front passes. There could also be some leftover showers on the backside going into the evening.

Friday we dry out with sunshine and clouds and temperatures in the 50s. Then very cold air arrives over the weekend and the question still remains about whether it comes in with some sort of storm development off our coastline. More on that on my morning long range discussion.
