Showers Thunderstorm Early Tuesday Morning Then Warm Humid Some Sun Follows
We are getting ready for a warm front to come through and take us out of the dry air and into the very warm humid air that lies just to the west and south. Some high clouds are rolling in now but nothing is going to happen rain wise through at least midnight so if you have evening plans go ahead with them. Other than high clouds it will be a warm evening and a warm night ahead with most temperatures holding in the 60s to near 70 degrees.
SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
Regional radar shows a lead band of showers drying out in upstate NY. Watch for showers to develop later this evening and tonight to the west in Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Those will move through here between 2am and 7am..lasting a bit longer in Southern New England and Long Island Tuesday morning.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Once the showers are done it is on to a mix of sun and clouds very warm and humid conditions with highs in the 80s with 70s along the coast where the wind will be more southerly. The rest of the week will be a case of a little more humid on some days, al little less on others, and temperatures that will be very warm. Highs Wednesday through Saturday will be in the 80s to near 90 with cooler readings along the shore should you be beach bound.
As for thunderstorm chances, they seem to be rather minimal. Late Wednesday and Wednesday night an upper trough will be moving through so we have a shot for some at that point. The next important change will come with a cold front late Saturday into Saturday night with the chance for thunderstorms. That front marks the leading edge of cooler drier air that will start to arrive on Sunday. That front will be pushing far south into the Southeastern US which will set us up for some nice dry air for the first part of next week.
This is similar to what we just went through this weekend with the jet stream dropping far south of normal in the Eastern US. Would that we could hold on to this all week but warmer more humid air looms for later next week and we will have to see whether the low offshore to the east gives way and how fast does it give way in order to hold that warm humid air back to the west. 4th of July is still 10 days away so we will wait regarding speculating specifically on that day. However the start of next week does look good for those who like it warm but not too warm with cool nights and low humidity.
