Severe Weather Risk Virginia to New England Beautiful Weekend Lies Ahead

Severe Weather Risk Virginia to New England Beautiful Weekend Lies Ahead

We are getting ready for another round of thunderstorms to impact the area today and this will all depend on how much daytime heating we get. A warm front has pushed northward into the Hudson Valley and New England overnight and will continue to push further north. It will be very warm to borderline hot today as well as very humid. The first of two weather fronts will be moving through tonight and we have an upper trough swinging through as well. This all spells severe weather risks for late this afternoon and this evening for the Northeast into the Middle Atlantic states. All of us in the area i generally cover from Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England sits in the slight risk zone which means a solid chance of scattered severe thunderstorms inside a larger area of general thunderstorms.

Looking at the satellite picture this morning we can see the pieces with clouds overhead as the warm front passes but we are seeing areas in Southern New Jersey south and west breaking out into sunshine and those breaks should push northward sending temperatures this afternoon to the upper 80s to near 90 degrees.

Now comes front number 2 for Thursday which will have less to work with. Look for sunshine and clouds and still rather humid with the chance for late day showers or a thunderstorm. The risk for severe weather should be less for Thursday’s front. Highs will be in the 80s to near 90.

Another Summer Day Late Storms Wednesday Thursday

Friday begins a great stretch of weather though there may be a few leftover clouds to work through in the morning. Humidity will be dropping as the day goes on. Look for developing sunshine with most highs in the 70s to near 80. High pressure to our north and a northeast wind will bring sunshine and low humidity for both Saturday and Sunday with nice cool highs in the 70s to perhaps near 80 in the warm spots and overnight lows in the 50s in most places except the warmer urban centers inland. It is a fairly straight forward forecast through the weekend and it should be every bit as nice as the first weekend of this month. We said that one could have been the best weekend of weather this summer. This weekend will certainly rival that.
