The Storm Prediction Center has added an area of enhanced risk for Severe Weather in a zone from Northern New Jersey (south of Route 78) southward to Eastern Maryland and Delaware for Tuesday. Meanwhile a marginal risk for severe weather continues this evening and while there are no severe thunderstorm watches in effect or expected, we do see activity building up this evening.

Once the storms are done it will be a warm and steamy night with lows in the upper 60s to mid 70s. Tuesday will be a very humid day with dew points into the 70s. The atmosphere will be highly unstable and we have an approaching sharp cold front. Daytime heating will be in full force into the afternoon with sunshine taking highs up above 90 in many areas. Then we watch for the front and for developing thunderstorms and some will be severe from mid afternoon until early evening.

The pay off comes Wednesday as we get a fast moving shot of lower humidity and some sunshine will return. Highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s for most places though Southern New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania could make it up into the mid 80s.

Dry air will last into early Thursday before a warm front sets up nearby. This probably means some clouds developing and we will have to watch for a few showers Thursday night into Friday morning. Highs on Thursday should reach into the 80s until the warm front passes and then the humidity rises. A cold front drops southward and stalls nearby on Friday. Add to that a developing wave and perhaps some leftover moisture from Hurricane Laura and you have the makings for showers late Friday and lasting into Saturday until the wave passes through. Drier and cooler air should follow after that.
