Saturday Near Record Highs As Blow Torch Pattern Starts The Weekend

Today we are prepping for the arrival of the blow torch pattern for Saturday. “Blow Torch” is slang used by weather folks to describe unusually warm conditions especially in the winter months where anything other than cold and snow is just simply unacceptable. We are prepping for it today with cloudy to partly sunny conditions and highs that will reach the upper 40s to lower 50s.

Tonight we will see clouds and mostly steady temperatures as the warm front moves northward. There might be a few scattered showers in the early morning hours but other than that, it will be a quiet night and then we proceed to the dayside Saturday. It will be a day of partly sunny conditions and a warm southwest breeze. Highs will be in the 60s to around 70 degrees and look for some record high temperatures to be challenged.

Saturday evening a cold front will move through and with that front the chance for some showers. It won’t amount to much rain and it will be long gone by Sunday morning. So will the very warm temperatures as we get another quick shot of cold air (relatively speaking) coming in for Sunday. Highs will just be in the 40s with some sunshine. Overall it is a good weekend other than the shower risks Saturday night.

Next week overall looks to be a mostly dry week with above average temperatures all week long. Looking at the temperature anomaly look starting with Sunday, that is the one day with temperatures near or below average and then Monday through Friday it is above average.

As for rain, Wednesday afternoon we have a chance for some scattered showers as a warm front goes by and Thursday and Friday will be two very warm days with highs at least in the 60s and the potential for some records being broken.
