Rain Wednesday, Sunny This Afternoon Into Tuesday

Rain is in the forecast for Wednesday but the rest of today and Tuesday look pretty good with sunshine this afternoon but temperatures will probably hold in the 50s. No issues tonight and with the growing season done thanks to the freeze a week and a half ago, we are aren’t really concerned anymore with regards to frost. Lows will be in the upper 20s and lower 30s cold posts and upper 30s to lower 40s in the warmer urban areas.

The storm system that has all the moisture from what was once Hurricane Patricia caused record flooding rains across Texas and Louisiana. The rain area is still fairly evident on the satellite loops this afternoon however the bulk of that moisture will wind up going to our west. Still I think some of the rain here will be enhanced by tropical moisture and we should have a good southeast inflow from the Atlantic on Wednesday ahead of the sweeping cold front that is going to go through.

Rain Wednesday into Wednesday night should produce an inch or 2. I have been sticking with that range for many days now. The biggest argument agains t that is the drought pattern has caused these weather systems to underperform the models most of the time or at best break even. This would argue for the lower end of the range. The key will be how much tropical moisture is able to get east of the mountains which is often an issue with lows going west of the Appalachians. Temperatures will rise into the 60s Wednesday and we may hold on to those on Thursday. A colder high will build in for Friday and the start of the weekend which takes daytime highs back into the 50s.
