Rain Saturday Night Into Sunday Afternoon. Windy Wednesday Night & Thanksgiving Morning

Our cold front has moved through and the winds have kicked up from the northwest. Drier air is back and tonight we should see skies clear out nicely. A gusty breeze will blow for awhile. Temperatures should bottom in the 20s inland and near or just over 30 along the coast. The satellite shows the cold front offshore and the clearing skies behind it. Regional radar shows all the showers are long gone offshore.

Saturday will be the better of the two weekend days and we will start the day with sunshine before clouds arrive later in the day. Most highs will reach the low to mid 40s though it may be a few degrees warmer in Southern New Jersey. Rain will be on the doorstep of South Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania Saturday evening and reach NYC and points north and east probably after midnight.

Sunday is going to be a raw rainy day in most areas until the low begins to pull away later Sunday afternoon and evening. Rainfall amounts of over an inch are likely along coastal areas with lesser amounts inland. Deeper into December something like this might be a snow producer inland but there just isn’t enough cold air to pull it off this time around.

Monday and Tuesday still look good with sunshine and temperatures that will be actually fairly reasonable for this time of year. Highs will reach the mid 40s to near 50 Monday and into the lower 50s on Tuesday.

Wednesday we have a cold front coming through and much of the showers with this should pass to our north and west. Highs will be in the 50s before the front passes but behind it the wind will pick up strongly later Wednesday afternoon and especially for Wednesday night and the first part of Thanksgiving Day. Winds from the northwest will be on the order of 15 to 30 mph with higher gusts likely. This is going to be an issue for the Thanksgiving Day parade in NYC. At least the week finishes dry with sunshine and highs Thanksgiving day should reach the 40s which is much warmer last year. If you recall last year we had our coldest Thanksgiving on record with many areas failing to get out of the 20s!
