Rain Moving to New Jersey For Morning Commute

Rain Moving to New Jersey For Morning Commute

We are continuing to monitor the satellite and radar overnight and seeing rain with a few heavier downpours and even a thunderstorm or 2 moving to New Jersey. The rain should reach the Western New Jersey, Pennsylvania border at around 7am..and then moving to New York City around mid morning and then moving to Long Island around lunchtime.

.
It was just a matter of time before the ridge in the east was going to break down and it finally has which is allowing the rain to the west to finally move into the area. The more pressing question is whether the rain area holds together because this has been a bone of contention with weather forecast models which have been cutting back rainfall amounts over the last several runs.

I put the northeast and southeast radars up so you can get a feel for the southern extent of the rain as it is important that this area holds together. By the time we get to sunrise much of that southern area would have shifted to the northeast. So far it seems to be holding together well. The key to the rainfall amounts today will depend on the extent of any thunderstorms that might be in the mix. Rain will be falling throughout much of the evening rush our drive and then ending by 7pm in Western areas of New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania and then ending in New York City probably around 8 or 9pm…a little later in Connecticut and Long Island. Dry weather will be moving in for Friday. Thursday’s highs will be in the 60s while Friday’s temperatures will hold in the 50s.
