More Waves Thursday into Saturday
Woke up to the same doom and gloom out there this morning. Rain moving northeast from the south means another round is coming this afternoon. The first wave of rain this morning past over and just west of New York City. This second one will be in Southeast Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey by Lunch time and then move up northeast into New York City, Hudson Valley, and Long Island during the early to mid afternoon. Then into Connecticut mid afternoon..and then gradually ending from west to east between 4pm and 8pm. Again nothing especially hard but it will be steady and continuous for a few hours.
You can see the rotation on the satellite loop in the northern Great Lakes as this is the upper low that is driving everything at the moment. It is forecast to begin a southward decent and aim for the Middle Atlantic Coast over the next 2 days. This of course will mean more waves of rain and other complications. Temperatures are in the 50s today and will pretty much stay in the 50s through Friday and possibly even Saturday if this takes longer to pull out. Nights continue to be in the 40s to near 50. Patchy fog and drizzle will be in the mix as well.

REGIONAL RADAR
Regional radar shows the overnight rains continuing to move northward. Soon we will see new echos firing up across Maryland and Delaware which will mark the rain for later today. The NYC UPTON NY radar has been down for awhile as they probably wait for parts. It should be back anytime. The Fort Dix NJ radar below however is working.

LOCAL RADARS
The HRRR model has the plan for the day mapped out pretty well and all weather models seem to line up well with this idea.

HRRR MODEL 2PM & 4PM TODAY
Thursday the rain looks more patchy in nature and less organized which means it comes in waves where some get it and some don’t. But on Friday with low pressure developing east of Delaware and rotating back northwestward, there will be a band of heavy rain that should come sweeping in from off the ocean later in the day into Friday evening.
NAM MODEL FRIDAY EVENING
The question for Saturday will be how long does it take for this low to get out of the way and it has been my belief that it may take longer to get out of the way. Overnight models are suggesting this possibility. Monday may be the first day with some sunshine and no rain.
