Rain Chances Increase Midweek And Part of Next Weekend But Today Looks Good

Without question this weekend was definitely the best weekend of the entire spring season with hardly a cloud in the sky and seasonal temperatures and comfortable humidity. We are going to extend this for one more day and while there is a warm front setting up to our northwest with high clouds, most of those clouds will play out to the north so we should have no worse than partly sunny skies today if not mostly sunny. High once again will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s. The radars are nice and quiet and should stay that way into Tuesday morning. Tonight will be another nice night with lows in the mid 50s to lower 60s.

Weather systems have not been able to move much from west to east the last few days and you can thank Tropical Storm Alex for that. Alex is passing north of Bermuda today and will move out quickly so the log jam will break up. Tuesday will start with some sunshine but we will see clouds and some scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

The showers and thunderstorms will wind down Tuesday evening but this is another case where the front stalls and we have to wait for a second and stronger wave to develop to get it out of the way. That comes Wednesday as low pressure moves east from the Ohio Valley and into Upstate NY and New England. Look for another round of showers and thunderstorms late Wednesday afternoon into early Thursday. Some of the rain from this might be on the heavy side. The first part of Wednesday though should be mostly dry though there could be some scattered showers around. Highs Wednesday will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

We should see improving weather conditions Thursday as the low moves away so clouds will give way to sunshine. Highs will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Friday should be dry but as the European model and other models show, here comes the next front that gets hung up and another wave that develops on it. It seems that this is happening a little faster so rain will develop late Friday and night and it looks like we will have rain for much of Saturday. A track offshore means a northeast wind so highs Saturday could just be in the 60s with raw and damp conditions. The good news is that there is no block so the low should move away Saturday night and then leave us with a nice Sunday of sunshine. Highs will be in the 70s to near 80 degrees.

When you put it all together this is going to be a wet week. When it is all said and done we could see 2 to as much as 4 inches of rain total between the midweek system and the one for Saturday. We could see things calm down a bit next week.
