Post Christmas Moderation Begins Slowly Warming Temperatures This Week
Today will be the first day in 4 that we will see temperatures break above the 30 degree mark though barely. The core of the cold air is now moving offshore and we begin a slow warm up through this week. When the pattern gets stretched to an extreme like we saw this weekend it tends to be followed by a period of relaxation. There is no energy left for any kind of major storm. Even minor storms will be tough to come by. So we have a relatively nice weather week ahead and some temperature upside as we head for the upper 20s to some lower 30s this afternoon. Skies should be mainly on the sunny side. Other than some lake effect that continues in Western and North Central NY, the radars across much of the Northeast are nice and quiet.

WEATHER RADAR
Tonight will be quiet with a few passing clouds. Lows will be in the teens inland and 20 to 25 coast and armer urban settings. Tuesday we will begin to see some movement higher. It should be of day of some sunshine and just a few high clouds. A weak system passes well south and east and bascially falls apart. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s.
The warm up continues for the rest of the week. Temperatures start to go above average beginning Wednesday and then continue to head higher for Thursday and Friday. It should be accompanied by nice weather too which will allow the brutal cold of recent days to fade into memory. Wednesday highs will be into the 40s and Thursday highs will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Both days will feature sunshine.
The same holds for Friday which will be a warm day indeed as highs reach into the low and mid 50s with sunshine. Saturday New Years Eve will see an approaching front and while the dayside Saturday will be dry, we will likely see some showers Saturday night. Saturday highs will be in the 50s to near 60. Sunday will see lingering clouds and showers with highs in the 50s to near 60. This won’t be a big storm but more of a nusiance than anything else.
