Ocean Winds Increasing Humidity Midweek Heat

The winds off the ocean kept the temperatures in check today with highs that were mostly in the low to middle 70s. We are also seeing some patchy clouds and some spotty light showers have developed in parts of Central New Jersey. All in all it was a nice day in general though not picture perfect. The onshore flow will continue into Tuesday which will hold temperatures back a bit. Lows tonight will be in the mid 50s in the coolest inland spots to mid 60s in the warmer urban locations and along the immediate coast.

REGIONAL RADAR

storm free

Radars are mostly quiet across the Northeast & Mid Atlantic States. Some scattered pop up showers are dotting some landscapes in New Jersey well as parts of Virginia. They won’t amount to much and should be gone off the screen after sunset.

There are no important changes in the outlook for the rest of the week. Tuesday remains a wash rinse repeat performance of today with a mix of sun and clouds along with the chance for a spot shower. Highs will reach the middle to upper 70s though areas in Southern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey will see highs reach into the 80s. Humidity levels will be creeping higher over the next 2 days as winds go from east to southeast and then to southwest on Wednesday.

Wednesday and Thursday we will see very warm and humid conditions. Wednesday will be a little warmer than Thursday with some sunshine and  highs in the mid 80s to near 90 degrees in some spots. The humidity will be high so it will be a bit uncomfortable. An approaching front could trigger a shower or thunderstorm late in the day though they should be scattered in nature. Thursday the front will ease through during the day with clouds, some sun and another shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s.

Cooler Monday Tuesday Warm Wednesday Thursday

Friday we will be back to an onshore flow with clouds and highs in the 70s. Then it is back to warm and humid conditions this weekend with some sunshine and the chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Highs both days will be in the 80s. There are no major systems on the horizon at the moment and the tropics are quiet now that Dorian has gone away after transitioning to a powerful non tropical cyclone over Northeastern Canada.
