November Weather Active Volatile Pattern Ahead

NOVEMBER BEGINS WARM BEFORE COLD FRONT APPROACHES

TWO WAVES TWO ROUNDS OF SHOWERS DOWNPOURS AND SOME THUNDERSTORMS

DRIER AIR ARRIVES DURING SATURDAY

norvermber

November begins with a rather warm day but that will not be lasting for too long as there are changes coming and in fact they are already underway. A frontal boundary lies across Upstate NY and into New England with showers running along it. Much of our area is to the south of that frontal boundary and temperatures are already moving into the 60s. I don’t expect much to happen today other than partly sunny skies at least for while before the frontal boundary gets closer tonight. There isn’t really much to stop temperatures from rising through the 60s and into the low and mid 70s this afternoon.

The regional radar this morning shows some showers moving well to the north and west of the coast. With the general movement to the northeast don’t expect much eastward progress of these showers today or even into the first part of tonight. It is likely that showers will wait until after midnight as the cold front finally gets close enough to produce some issues. Local radars won’t be showing much today and through the evening rush hour commute.

Looking ahead to the next few days we have a cold front that approaches Friday morning and that front is going to stall out right on top of us. It is going to have to wait for a second wave to develop on that front to get it through here. This means after a round of showers late tonight and Friday morning there will be a second round of downpours and thunderstorms to deal with Friday night into Saturday morning. This means much of Friday day side could be rain free and then we deal with the second wave Friday night into Saturday morning.

The potential for a couple of inches of rain exists here into Saturday morning. After the wave goes by and moves into the Gulf of Maine, weather conditions should start to improve during Saturday afternoon and Sunday looks dry with some sunshine. Highs Saturday in the 50s to near 60 and Sunday highs will be just into the 50s. Monday the onshore flow with the next high to the northeast brings clouds back and then another cold front heads here Tuesday as low pressure heads to the Great Lakes making for wet election day up and down the East Coast.
