Nice Weather Mostly Rain Free Into Wednesday Dorian Nova Scotia Newfoundland

Hurricane Dorian is wrapping up its historic run from the Virgin Islands to the Bahamas, the Southeast US Coast and now to Nova Scotia & New Foundland with a landfall this afternoon along the South Coast of Nova Scotia not far from Halifax. Coastal Maine and Southeast New England have been getting a taste of tropical storm force winds this morning. We here from Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England were skipped over by Dorian thanks to a favorable upper air wind flow that protected this zone of the East Coast. Now we move on the what should be a nice weekend and stretch of mostly rain free weather into the middle of next week.

REGIONAL RADAR

With Dorian on the upper right of the satellite and the regional radar, the northwest flow created behind the storm is bringing nice dry air into the Northeast and Middle Atlantic states and we are left with a nice September day of sunshine and temperatures in the 70s to near 80. This is still beach weather but if you are thinking about the ocean beaches today or Sunday be advised that the rip current risk is very high as well as the big waves that are coming in from Dorian well offshore. Exercise extreme caution or avoid the water entirely today except to get your feet wet. Skies should be clear tonight with lows in the 50s except low 60s warmer urban areas and along the coast. Nice weather continues Sunday with no worse than partly sunny skies with highs in the lower 70s.

Dorian Moving Away Northeast Weather Conditions Improve Overnight

We have a weak cold front that is passing through this weekend in the wake of Dorian that you will hardly notice as it goes by but it does set up a weak boundary to our south on Monday as high pressure builds to the north. There will be a bit of an onshore flow as a result. This could bring some clouds into the mix with some breaks of sun along with cooler highs just in the upper 60s to mid 70s for most places. No rain is forecast. The high moves out to the southeast. We gradually start to turn warmer and progressively more humid into mid week. Tuesday should be no worse than partly sunny from this vantage point with highs in the 70s to near 80. Wednesday and Thursday will be warm and humid with some sun and the risk for a shower or thunderstorm late Wednesday or Wednesday night with highs both days into the low and middle 80s. Overall it is a quiet week with no big storms on the horizon and no tropical systems to worry about for the time being.
