Nice Night Ahead Showers Thunderstorm Late Sunday Windy Colder Week Ahead
The first half of the weekend is almost gone and we had a beautiful albeit chilly day. The night ahead should be clear for most of the night and the satellite shows us in clear skies with some clouds well to the west. Temperatures won’t fall much tonight as we bottom in the 40s except lower 50s warmer urban centers and along the coast. Some clouds will likely arrive toward morning.

REGIONAL RADAR
Sunday sees an approaching sharp cold front and while there might be some sun for the first part of the day clouds will be increasing as a line of showers and possibly even a thunderstorm or two approach. We expect showers to arrive in Eastern Pennsylvania and Western New Jersey in the mid to late afternoon and then reaching the coast Sunday evening
The approaching front will tighten the pressure gradient along the coast so Wind Advisories are up for Coastal New Jersey, Long Island and Coastal Connecticut for winds that could gust to 40 or even 50 mph later Sunday afternoon and evening especially once the front makes its final approach. After the front moves offshore, gusty northwest winds take over and as the GFS model shows above, the pressure gradient over the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic states remains tight right into Wednesday! Winds will likely be close to advisory criteria so we will wait and see whether the National Weather Service puts the wind advisory up for the entire area Sunday night and/or Monday.
Monday will be a windy and chilly day with sunshine and some instability clouds. Winds will gust to 30 mph or more at times. Highs will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s.
Tuesday brings another cold front with a rain or snow shower. Temperatures on Tuesday will top in the low to mid 40s and it will continue to be breezy to windy at times especially along the coast. This takes us to Wednesday morning when lows will likely be in the 20s to near 30.
Wednesday will be a very cold day indeed with ineffective sunshine and temperatures that will barely make it back to 40 in some places. Most highs will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s and the wind will still be cranking for at least part of the day but it may finally start to drop off Wednesday night.
We will take another trip down into the 20s to near 30 for lows Thursday morning under a clear sky and if winds completely drop off some teens in cold spots are not out of the question. Thursday sees plenty of sunshine with highs in the low to mid 40s.
