Nestor Heads Northeast Post Tropical Grazing Of Rain Possible Sunday

Tropical Storm Nestor is no longer a tropical storm when you look at it on the satellite and radars this morning. The broad circulation is coming ashore on the Florida Panhandle but the system looks like a non tropical Gulf low about to make its way through the Southeast US. Rain will be spreading through the Southeast US today. Top winds have weakened to less than 50 mph and it will no longer be classified as a tropical system later today when the National Hurricane Center downgrades it. The core of this system (what little there was of it) is pretty much gone now.

We woke up this morning to quite the morning chilly with temperatures in the 30s to lower 40s for lows. The weekend gets underway with today being the better of the two weekend days. We will see plenty of sunshine today with highs reaching back into the 60s. It will be a beautiful autumn day from start to finish with no issues on the satellite and no issues on the radar.

Soon to be post Tropical Storm Nestor clouds are moving northward into North Carolina but they have a long way to go before they get here so skies tonight should be mostly clear at least to start though high clouds will start to arrive from south to north during the early morning hours. Lows Sunday morning won’t be as cool as they were this morning as we bottom in the 40s to near 50. Some 30s will be well north and northeast of the coast.

REGIONAL RADAR

storm free

Clouds will be increasing late tonight and Sunday will be a cloudy day as Post Tropical Storm Nestor moves through the Carolinas and then slides off the North Carolina coast to the east northeast. While it will be overcast much of Sunday the rain from this system which is not going to be any big deal will graze Southern New Jersey and Long Island and perhaps briefly make it just to the north of this zone. Otherwise areas north and west of the coast will likely see little or nothing from this.

Sunday’s highs will reach into the 60s again and rainfall amounts from this will be under a quarter of an inch and the best chances for that would be in the southern half of New Jersey southward. With this low moving out to the northeast we will be in between it and the next cold front which doesn’t arrive here until late Tuesday or Tuesday night.

Weekend Forecast Nice Saturday Cloudy Sunday Watching Nestor

This should put us in sunshine for Monday with highs in the mid 60s to near 70 inland. Then the front arrives Tuesday with clouds and showers with highs in the 60s. Wednesday and Thursday look dry sunny and seasonal before the next front arrives with showers at the end of next week.
