Mostly Quiet Week Ahead Cold Shot Mid Week
No Storms On the Horizon Short Range
We are in a relatively calm weather pattern for now at least and the week ahead doesn’t feature anything that should be too problematic. Today should be no worse than a partly sunny day as high pressure slides to our south. There isn’t a whole lot of cold air around so temperatures today should reach the upper 30s and lower 40s without much difficulty. That is about where we should be for this time of year. Radars should be nice and quiet today. Most lows tonight will be in the 20s to near 30 in warmer urban areas.

The week ahead weather wise will feature shots of cold air with upper troughs and cold fronts passing through from time to time. There is very little in the way of moisture around as the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico are mostly shut off. Low pressure moves across the Northern Gulf of Mexico Monday but this system is weak. A cold front will be passing through the Northeast and Middle Atlantic with little fanfare other than a wind shift from west to northwest.
As far as Monday is concerned we are looking at partly sunny skies as the weak cold front passes through. Temperatures Monday will be topping out again in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Once the front passes we will see colder air come in late Monday and Monday night. By Tuesday morning we will see lows dropping to the mid and upper 20s coast and teens well inland and north.
Winds will be cranking up again Tuesday into Wednesday. They should be below Wind Advisory criteria but we could certainly see gusts over 30 mph at times. There is also an upper trough that will be coming through late Tuesday into Tuesday night and there is a chance we could see some scattered snow showers with that system. Otherwise Tuesday will be colder with partly sunny skies. Highs will just be in the upper 20s and lower 30s.
Wednesday will be a breezy to windy, partly sunny day with highs again in the upper 20s and lower 30s. Thursday will also be partly sunny and cold with highs in the upper 20s and lower 30s. We should see temperatures bounce a little higher Friday as the cold shot modifies. No storm systems are in play during the work week. A weather front and a developing wave of low pressure could come into play next weekend though the specifics of how this plays out are unknown at this time.
