Mostly Dry Week Ahead With Rising Temperatures Late Week
We have a new week, a new month, and the beginning of meteorological summer today and with that another upper trough is moving southeast around and upper air storm over Atlantic Canada. The good news is that this is the last trough of its type to move through the Northeast. Satellite loops show areas of clouds rotating around but for Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England, I expect it to be no worse than partly sunny today. There could be a few isolated showers developing inland as the upper trough goes by but for the vast majority of you it is a rain free day and even if it showers, it won’t last. Highs will reach the low and middle 70s in most areas, perhaps a few degrees cooler at the beaches.

WEATHER RADAR
The Omega blocking pattern is breaking down as we will see the upper low over Atlantic Canada exit to the northeast over the next couple of days. This is going to allow high pressure over the Great Lakes, and an initial cool easterly flow over the Northeast and Mid Atlantic to shift to the Southeast US late this week. A southwest flow develops starting Thursday and this is going to bring temperatures higher.
The overall weather pattern is going to be dry through Saturday with little to no rain in the forecast. Tonight we should have mainly clear skies with most lows in the 40s inland and low to mid 50s coast & warmer urban areas. Tuesday will be a partly to mostly sunny day with highs generally in a range of 70 to 75 degrees with slightly cooler highs along east and south facing shorelines.
The onshore flow continues Wednesday but we could see temperatures a bit higher with reading in the mid to upper 70s coupled with sunshine. Then the winds go southwest for Thursday and Friday with high pressure along the Southeast US coast. Temperatures will move to the 80s Thursday with sunshine and Friday we will see highs reaching the upper 80s to some lower 90s. The hot temperatures will carry into Saturday but we could see it turn cooler Sunday. Again little to no rain is forecast into at least the daytime Saturday.
