More Rain Late Today Into Tonight Stair Step Chill Down Over The Weekend
The first round of rain that moved through overnight is now to the northeast however we still have more work to do before weather conditions can improve. Low pressure in the Great Lakes is crawling eastward and weakening and a second wave is developing along the Mid Atlantic coast. Clouds on the satellite remain from New England southward to Florida. We will have to wait for that second wave to move by and that will happen tonight. Today we will see lots of clouds but not much in the way of rain. Temperatures as the high temperature map shows will depend on your location. East and north of NYC the marine air will remain firm and highs will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s. South and southwest of Philadelphia temperatures should reach the 60s especially if the sun makes an appearance.

WEATHER RADAR
Keep an eye on the radars to the south. We are sitting in a gap at the moment but rain from the Carolinas and southeast Virginia will move northward and bring rain late today into tonight and then once it moves to the northeast we will start the drying process later tonight. Lows Friday morning will be in the 40s.
A colder than normal pattern will start setting up over the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic states beginning this weekend and lasting into next week. Friday begins the process and we will see sunshine and clouds. Highs Friday will be in the 50s to around 60 degrees. The weekend will not be picture perfect by any means.
A cold upper trough will being over the East Saturday into Sunday. Saturday will start with some sun early but clouds will quickly take over. Some rain showers are possible Saturday afternoon and evening though they will be scattered. Highs will be in the low and middle 50s. Lows Sunday morning will be in the 30s to near 40.
Even colder air begins to arrive on Sunday. it will be another day of a mix of sun and clouds with a gusty wind. Highs will just be in the low to mid 40s. That will set us up for a very cold Sunday night into Monday morning. Lows will be in the 20s along the coast and urban areas and teens to near 20 degrees inland. Monday will be very cold with ineffective sunshine and a gusty wind. Highs will be just in the 30s to near 40.
This will be 15 degrees below average. If you seasonally adjust it, this would be like a day in January where highs would just be in the low to mid 20s. Monday night into Tuesday morning will be another cold night with lows in the teens to lower 20s! Tuesday could see a little bit of a temperature bounce with highs in the low to mid 40s which is still 10 degrees below average. Look for sun and arriving high clouds as a warm front sets up to our south. Some snow sleet and rain will set up along the boundary between the cold air in the Northeast and warm air in the Southeast US. This band of precipitation could line up from Virginia northwest to the Ohio Valley. It appears to be light precipitation and it may just fall apart before it every gets here. We may have to wait until later next week for any wide spread rain to come in.
