Minor Snowfall North or Just Rain South
Overnight Into Early Monday Otherwise Dry Into Tuesday
We do have the chance for some snow tonight into early Monday morning and we are thinking that after being taken on a wild ride by some weather models, a coating to an inch or perhaps two makes the most sense for areas in Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. More on this in a moment. In the meantime today it will be dry with sunshine giving way to arriving clouds. High temperatures will be mostly into the 40s this afternoon, perhaps a little lower to the north and northwest. No precipitation is forecast during the day.

WEATHER RADAR
Rain on the radar loop is advancing northward through Virginia and West Virginia and it will only get so far north. Low pressure moving across the Deep South will reach the Carolinas tonight and then exit to the east rather than turn northward up the coast. To the north an upper trough will get involved to some extent and colder air will drain southward tonight from New England.
The northern fringe of the precipitation changes to sleet and snow. Areas from North Central New Jersey to New York City and Long Island might see a coating to an inch with an outside chance for 2 inches in some places. South in New Jersey from Interstate 195 it is all rain with maybe a few snowflakes at the end. I really do not see much in the way of upside here as this lasts all of 6 hours or so from start to finish. Precipitation starts between 7pm and 10pm and it is long gone by daybreak Monday.
Temperatures overnight will settle around the freezing mark or a little less in some places. Monday, Presidents Day we will see decreasing clouds and increasing amounts of sunshine. High temperatures Monday will reach into the 40s everywhere. On the whole next week we will see warmer than average temperatures however we will be playing games with a stationary boundary that will like across the northeast and that means that if you are north of that boundary temperatures will be colder and to the south it will be warmer. We will have more on this in the coming days.
