Mainly Sunny Through The Weekend With Temperatures Trending Lower
We have arrived at the doorstep of the weekend and with that comes another day with a chill in the air. Sunshine this morning will likely give way to developing clouds thanks to the cold unstable atmosphere that remains over the Northeast US. Inland areas have the outside chance for a sprinkle or a shower but the vast majority of you won’t see much of anything. Highs will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Skies will clear tonight with Saturday morning lows in the 40s coast and 30s inland.

The atmosphere becomes more stable over the weekend but high pressure in the Northeast will rebuild in New England and Eastern Canada. This will funnel down more chilly air from the north and that will keep temperatures running below average into next week. To the south we have low pressure that will be moving across the Gulf states with areas of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
That low will reach the Southeast US coast Monday and Tuesday and the low reforms along the Carolina coast. Onshore flow develops to the north and we will start to see clouds rolling in Monday night and Tuesday and there might even be some light rain or drizzle from this until later Wednesday into Thursday when the low is forecast to head northward with rain and wind. There is still some questions on strength and track and we won’t resolve that until we get through the weekend. The odds for a coastal storm next week are certainly going up.
Ahead of all this we have a nice weekend of sunshine. However temperatures will be chilly. Saturday daytime highs will be mostly in the 50s. Colder air moving southward on north winds will drop temperatures Sunday morning to the upper 30s and lower 40s coast and lower 30s in many inland areas. Sunday will be mostly sunny but it will be chilly with most highs in the low to middle 50s.
Sunday night and Monday night will likely be the coldest nights with lows dropping to the upper 30s and lower 40s coast and 20s in cold spots inland. Monday should remain sunny at least to start the day. Highs Monday will be in the low to middle 50s. Beyond Monday will depend on how models handle the developing low to the south. We can see that one upside to this is that Tropical Storm Melissa will be forced eventually to track northeast out of the Caribbean and track to the east of the coastal low so at least the tropical system will not get involved with this possible coastal storm.
