Lower Humidity & Sunshine Saturday
Sunday Brings A Cold Front & Severe Weather Risk
Three days in a row of severe weather risks along with heat and humidity takes a day off today. Dry air behind Friday’s cold front has moved in. Dew points will be down in the 50s today. Temperatures however will still be very warm with highs reaching the upper 80s to some lower 90s. We will also have mostly sunny skies making this a very nice beach day. No thunderstorms are forecast today and even the beaches will be very warm as sea breezes will be limited. Skies should be mainly clear tonight with most lows in the 60s to around 70 degrees.

Sunday brings the next cold front into the east. The front will mark the leading edge of cooler and dry air that will dominate the weather scene for at least the first part of next week. Ahead of this front we will have sunshine into the afternoon. Temperatures will reach the upper 80s to lower 90s Local sea breezes will be confined to the area beaches. Dew points will be moving higher Sunday so it will feel more humid.
This cold front has some force to it as the upper flow from Canada strengthens and the jet stream shifts southward. A strong short wave trough will accompany this cold front and will set off thunderstorms in a north south line later Sunday afternoon and evening across Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. The Storm Prediction Center is indicating a slight risk or 15 percent chance for severe thunderstorms from New York State southward into North Carolina and everyone in between including all of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York City and Long Island.
Once the cold front passes, we will see improving weather conditions Sunday night. Monday and Tuesday we will have sunshine and highs will generally be in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Many areas Monday could struggle to get to 80 but the dew points will be dropping into the 40s making for extremely delightful conditions across the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic states into midweek.
