Long Island Should Enjoy A Nice Friday And A Decent Weekend

The satellite picture pretty much says it all as we see clear skies up and down the East Coast with the exception of the southern half of Florida where there are clouds and some scattered thunderstorms running around. Long Island is sitting in a good position today and this weekend. Today looks good with sunshine and only a few patchy clouds will pop up. Temperatures this afternoon should reach the lower 70s inland. Highs along the coast will be in the 60s before the sea breeze takes hold in the mid to late afternoon. Overall it is a nice finish to the week.

Over the weekend my expectation is that it should be fine. A clear night tonight will lead to a partly sunny day on Saturday. We are looking at highs Saturday again in the lower 70s. 60s will be the highs along the coast and again only local sea breezes should develop during the afternoon.

Sunday brings some minor issues. It should be partly sunny but there may be more clouds around especially in the afternoon. We are not mentioning a chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm for the coast on Saturday. For Sunday we will throw in the possibility of an isolated shower but the higher chance will be inland west of NYC as well as northward. Because of clouds highs Sunday will be in the upper 60s to around 70 or so.

The bottom line for the weekend is if you have outdoor plans go right ahead with them and enjoy. Next week is looking good overall. Monday will be the coolest day with highs in the mid to upper 60s and clouds giving way to sun. Tuesday and Wednesday should see highs in the 70s and by Thursday highs could reach the mid to upper 70s. The week ahead looks to be dry with the next weather front not approaching until late Thursday or Friday.
