Long Island Sees Rain Wind Today & Tonight
Wind Advisory In Effect Gusts Over 40 MPH
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 11, 2022
Long Island is going to see some rain, some wind, and maybe a thunderstorm or two in the mix as the remnants of Nicole, now a non tropical storm system moving north up the Appalachians. The track of the low is well to the west so from the standpoint of rain, it should be on the order of an inch or less. We will however have to deal with wind tonight into Saturday morning. Wind advisories are in effect for Long Island and Gale warnings for the coastal waters. Winds tonight will gust to 40 to 50 mph with the strongest winds between midnight and 6am.

WEATHER RADAR
The rain will be coming through in 2 stages. The first will be for this afternoon into this evening as tropical air surgest northward. The second round comes overnight as the low goes by to our north and a cold front heads east and pushes through. This will produce another round of showers and perhaps a thunderstorm. Long Island is outside the area of severe weather risk at the moment.
The rains should be gone by Saturday daybreak or shortly afterwards and then weather conditions should improve nicely with developing sunshine. Colder air doesn’t arrive until later Saturday night as a second front comes through. Highs Saturday will be in the warm lower 70s. Saturday night could see a shower or two as the front and trough go by. Then in turns colder Sunday with a gusty wind and a mix of sun and clouds. Highs will be in the lower 50s. Monday and Tuesday will be even colder with some sun both days and highs just in the mid to upper 40s.
