Long Island Beat The Heat At The Beaches Next Two Days, Relief Coming Late Week

Long Island Beat The Heat At The Beaches Next Two Days,

Relief Coming Late Week

Sunday on Long Island will be a repeat performance of Saturday. It will be another hot humid day with sunshine and just a small chance for a pop up shower or thunderstorm. I’m throwing it in the forecast just in case but it is likely that there will be no shower or thunderstorm issue. The shore will be the place to go for relief thanks to local sea breezes that will send temperatures to the lower 80s during the afternoon and evening hours. The East End of Long Island will see highs inland in the mid to upper 80s but closer to 80 at the beaches.

Monday will be more of the same, high humidity, sunshine, and inland highs on Long Island reaching the lower 90s. The shore and East End will be cooler again with local sea breezes. There is perhaps a slightly higher chance there could be a downpour or thunderstorm in the late afternoon or evening as a weather front approaches but the chances are low for Long Island. The chances will be higher north and northwest of NYC. Tuesday brings more clouds but it will still be very humid with highs 85 to 90 and the chance for thundertorms late in the day as another cold front passes. Late next week we are likely to see a real break from the heat and humidity as a strong trough in the upper atmosphere strengthens in the Eastern US and that brings down a robust shot of cooler drier air arriving Friday and lasting through next weekend. Fingers crossed!
