Last Spring Weekend Will Be First Dry Spring Weekend

We begin this morning with clear skies and temperatures that in some cold spots dropped down into the 30s this morning! How is that for a June morning! Now we look ahead to a gorgeous day of sunshine from start to finish. Dry air from Eastern Canada has settled overhead and we will see highs reaching the low and mid 70s with bone dry humidity. There is nothing much to speak of on the satellite loop this morning with clouds moving from north to south telling us that that jet stream from Canada remains in control for awhile longer.

EASTERN SATELLITE

storm free

There are no worries on the radar either through much of the northeast today however we will see some changes on Wednesday. The next warm front cold front combination will be approaching and this will bring clouds in very late tonight. It sets us up for the chance for some showers and thunderstorms scattered around on Wednesday. Humidity levels will be going up as well with the southwest flow. We are likely to see a few scattered showers or downpours in the morning some time and then again in the evening when the cold front approaches and moves through. Temperatures Wednesday will be in the 70s to near 80. The Storm Prediction Center has much of the area north and west of the coast at a marginal risk for severe weather with a slight risk for severe weather Wednesday across much of Pennsylvania and upstate NY.

REGIONAL RADAR

storm free

Once this front passes it is back to dry weather and sunshine. The air mass coming down from Canada Thursday is warm and dry so we should see temperatures in the low to mid 80s with sunshine and low humidity. Friday looks very good too with highs in the 80s With the high passing to our south and a west wind it looks like a rain free summer like weekend for Father’s Day weekend with sunshine both Saturday and Sunday, no rain, and temperatures in the mid 80s to 90 or higher in some places. This is the last weekend of the spring season as summer arrives next week. The longer range pattern suggests this could last into Monday before the next series of cold fronts begins to have some impact. We will examine this more with a long range outlook later today.
