SATELLITE LOOP

storm free

Jose remains stalled about 300 miles to the east of our coastline and it looks like it will remain there for the next couple of days as it continues to weaken. Winds are down to 50 mph and Jose will gradually weaken to a remnant low in a couple of days. This is probably going to keep clouds over the coastal areas into Saturday morning but inland areas just to the west and northwest of NYC will probably see at least some sunshine on Friday. Temperatures where there is cloud cover will be in the 70s Friday and in the 80s where the sun comes out; much like occurred today.

REGIONAL RADAR

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

storm free

Rain bands from Tropical Storm Jose are visible on the local radar views but at least for now the bands are not making any kind of westward move. Even if those bands move westward they should weaken as Jose continues to lose strength over the rather cool ocean waters offshore.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

The overall theme for the next 5 days will be summery weather even though Autumn arrives Friday afternoon. Saturday through Monday we could see record highs across much of the area thanks to a very summery pattern that has taken hold across the Eastern US. Highs each day will be in the 80s and some areas in New Jersey could reach mid to upper 80s Sunday and Monday while it will be a bit cooler along coastal areas thanks to a sea breeze.

Our summery pattern will continue until later next week when the jet stream will finally shift and the pattern in the east will begin to turn cooler as early as Thursday. This pattern change will also help to kick Hurricane Maria out to sea which would be a good thing We have had quite enough from hurricanes this season and thankfully the impact for us has been minimal..at least so far.
