The Weather Prediction Center of the National Weather Service has raised risks for flash flooding as well as expanding the area from New Jersey to Southern New England. This area is in a "slight" risk which is a 15 to 40 percent chance for localized flash flooding. Rainfall forecast amounts will range from 1 to 2 inches inland of the coast of New Jersey and NYC. 2 to 3 inches or more are possible from Long Island, Southern and Southeastern New England. Rain will spread up the coast during the day Wednesday, reaching New York City by afternoon and Boston by evening. The HRRR and other models are all in line with bringing the heaviest rain along the coast with lesser amounts inland. A northeast wind will pick up and temperatures will likely settle in the 40s while it is raining. Rain will taper off by Thursday morning in most places. Lots of leftover clouds will linger around with temperatures in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Friday looks like a good day with some sunshine but another storm system and cold front will bring more rain Saturday and Saturday night with the potential for more flooding.
