A nice day it is thanks to the warm front moving northward into Upstate NY & Southern New England. For a change things worked out for the better. Temperatures reached the 80s in parts of Central & Southern New Jersey with lots of 70s everywhere else. Even Long Island managed a few 70s today. Entering the evening we have a weak cold front that is approaching and it could trigger off a few scattered showers or a thunderstorm. The Storm Prediction Center has a marginal risk of severe weather for this evening so keep an eye to the sky just in case.

We aren’t expecting any kind of widespread thunderstorm outbreak this evening. Just a few cells will pop up here and there and not all will see it. Once we pass the evening hours everything calms down and a cold front drops southward which means back into the onshore flow for Friday.

Friday unfortunately the front is back to our south late tonight and Friday so it is back to an onshore flow. A cold front approaches from the west. We are likely to sit in clouds all day again which means for much of the area temperatures are going to be in the 50s. Some 60s are possible in South Jersey. Then here comes a cold front with a wave on it and the chance for showers or a thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening as shown by the NAM model for 5pm Friday.

We may see some showers or a thunderstorm during the early morning hours on Saturday until the cold front clears the coast. This could leads to some short term improvement on Saturday though clouds could remain stubborn. An onshore flow will be trying to set up again with the next system for Sunday. Saturday dayside however should be mostly dry and rain free with clouds and some breaks of sun. Temperatures should reach the 60s in most places.

Things don’t look good for Sunday as a wave of low pressure on the stalled cold front develops and brings rain here later Saturday night and probably most of Sunday. Some of the rain Sunday could be heavy and the rainfall amounts could be on the order of an inch or two north and west of the low track. North and west of the low track temperatures will probably be in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Saturday is definitely the better of the two weekend days. We may get a brief break from the misery early next week onshore flow permitting.
