Weather Conditions Improve Cold Dry Tonight Christmas Rain Late Week
Last night’s and this morning’s weak weather system is now on its way out and weather conditions are beginning to improve. Some breaks in the cloud cover are developing this afternoon and we should be fine and dandy tonight into Christmas Day. Rain and/or snow is all done and we will have dry weather conditions until Friday. Radars are showing all the precipitation drying up. The exception on the regional radar is lake effect snows that are coming ashore now and will continue into tonight. No White Christmas this year for us.
It is a clear night for Christmas Eve and a sunny Christmas Day. It will be cold tonight but nothing exceptional with lows in the 20s inland to near 30 in the warmer urban areas. Highs Tuesday will be in the 30s to near 40. Dry weather continues until Friday when the next storm system and cold front approach with another all rain even for us.
After this system goes by weather models show a colder trend combining with a busy weather pattern. We could see the first shot for some snow here a week from the day as we wait for the arrival of the New Year. Models have become more bullish for cold and snow next week and beyond though there still may be some issues regarding exactly how much cold air we are talking about. We will put this idea out there for you to ponder as we take a bit of a break tonight into Christmas morning for family dinner, church services, and opening gifts in the morning. Merry Christmas to all.
