Many cities from Southeastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England set record highs today which was no surprise. Many cities also set records for the highest temperatures recording for this late in October! Even coastal areas barely have a sea breeze today as the west wind held firm into mid afternoon.
Now this will be the last day of record highs as cooler air comes down from the north tonight. We will see some clouds roll in. The satellite loop shows some clouds developing to the west as the frontal system to the west begins to swing eastward. No rain is forecast tonight so radars should be quiet.
Thursday will be cooler with temperatures in the 60s and occasional showers. Friday that front swings east and the focus of attention shifts to the coast as low pressure develops off the Virginia coast. What could complicate matters somewhat is the tropical/subtropical system east of the Bahamas that remains disorganized. Whether it develops or not, it will eventually be absorbed by the non tropical low developing to our south and east. That system will become a major storm as it moves into New England Friday night and Saturday morning. We will get some rain from this Friday into Saturday morning but for now the heaviest will be north and east of the coast. However Saturday is shaping up as a rather windy and chilly day with leftover showers early and temperatures in the 50s. Sunday looks chilly but dry and breezy with some sunshine and highs in the 50s.
