Tropical Waves Moving Westward
We are now monitoring 2 tropical waves in the tropical Atlantic. This one on the satellite loop below is the one that has just moved off the African coast. It appears that there is a weak low level circulation evident and the wave has shown signs of organization. The National Hurricane Center rates this a 50 percent chance of developing in the next 5 days though it does point out that conditions will become less favorable as it heads into the Central Tropical Atlantic.
Tropical Waves Moving Westward Satellite Loops
The second tropical wave on the loop below is moving westward at a pretty good clip. There is a lot of shower and thunderstorm activity with this but the fast movement precludes development. Conditions could be become more favorable as the wave heads into the Northwestern Caribbean in about a week.
Tropical Waves Moving Westward Wave Number 2
After a very dry stretch across the tropics it appears now that these tropical waves at least will be adding some moisture to the equation. There is some sort of an upper low in the Bahamas that is moving southwestward. No development expected here. The gradual increase in activity should continue over the next few weeks and beyond.
